I’m just starting my mailers, but as I buy land and have some inventory between sales I’d want the insurance. I also am yes to all three questions.Logan JordanParticipantFebruary 11, 2019 at 7:19 amPost count: 14
After doing a lot of research I went with Anytime Mailbox. However, I haven’t yet sent out a mailer… so I can’t comment from my own experience yet. They are at least worth evaluating.Logan JordanParticipantJanuary 15, 2019 at 2:37 amPost count: 14
I’d watch them, often as replays… but when I could try to catch it live and join in on the questions.Logan JordanParticipantJanuary 8, 2019 at 3:14 amPost count: 14
I’ve recently selected VirtualPBX, it seemed to be better for me than Line2 or Vumber. I like that they can receive and send faxes, texts, calls from the same #. They also offer voice transcription of calls to email. It’s too early for me to comment on the experience, but I can port the number over if I find that I don’t like their service.
I didn’t realize that Skype offered such low costs for unlimited minutes. Can you port #’s with Skype to other services, if you wanted?Logan JordanParticipantJanuary 7, 2019 at 7:44 amPost count: 14
Hello Land Academy,
I wanted to share the website I created over Christmas break and recently updated with my US phone number and mailing address, SSL certificate and backed up. I used the WordPress Tutorial that Neil H suggested in this post and found it very helpful along with these videos on SSL and backup:
I know it still requires more in the Q&A and actually listing properties (only have one JV at the moment), but instead of waiting for great… I thougth I’d share my opinion of “Good”. I’ll ad testimonials as they become available. Please let me know your thoughts, areas for improvement, etc.

I’ll share it after this weekend.. as I plan to make a few improvements and updates. I want to update my contacts as I’ve got a mailing address and hopefully soon the phone. I also need to make it secure by adding SSL and backup it up. Did you use Host Gator? Did you add backup under Host Gator or elsewhere?
I don’t recall Tyler Moore’s tutorial showing backup… then again, I haven’t watched the last 15 mins.Logan JordanParticipantJanuary 4, 2019 at 7:37 amPost count: 14
Hi Neil & Milan,
Thanks for the helpful replies and suggestions. I haven’t yet got to mailings, so I haven’t yet considered how I’d handle the deeds and closings (if beyond what a notary can/should handle or seller is willing to pay for).
I have both Chase and BoA accounts, not Wells Fargo (I was asking Neil about his experience at WF living aboard to see if setting one up is worth it). I do have personal checks here in Singapore, but I was hoping to setup a business account to fund land purchases from and receive funds from sales in.
If I go ahead and just use my personal accounts, you are suggesting that I send via airmail the check I sign in Singapore to the notary (2-3 business days at best, and rather pricey) or what if I use online banking to send a check to the notary made out to the land seller (5-7 business days)?
Is it possible to wire or ACH payments as well if urgency is an issue?Logan JordanParticipantJanuary 3, 2019 at 12:17 amPost count: 14
I’m reading the old forums to determine what will work best for me on my first mailer(s). I’m living overseas, so I can’t use some of the companies to port / forward calls to me overseas number, but i can still let the calls go to voicemail (VM). I can then listen to VM or get emails transcripts and use online VOIP to return calls or the app.
Some options require an existing US phone # to setup like Google Voice. Numberbarn also requires and active phone to place outgoing calls, I think it also has to be US or Canada, but I’ve emailed them to see if my Singapore # can work. Any suggestions on options for those overseas that would like to forward calls to an overseas number and be able to make calls from online and overseas phone?
On a different tract of phone services, it seems possible to use NumberBarn or Vumber with two numbers 1) happy folks and/or sellers that your forward to Smith.ai or Patlive 2) goes to your voicemail thereby minimizing costs. Perhaps you would sift some or hopefully most of the angry callers… then put Caller ID blocks if they continue calling back.
This isn’t something I’m needing at the moment, but something that I would expect folks doing tons of business might benefit from, like (then again maybe there is a plan that is unlimited and removing angry callers doesn’t provide any benefits):

I’ve been slowly setting up the systems to conduct this land business from overseas. I’ve got the website done, much thanks to your WordPress tutorial! I got the virtual mailbox notarized online last night and now have a permanent mailing address to include on my first mailer.
Next I need to get a US phone number, I’m finding that Google Voice cannot be set up with an overseas number and the old way of using a VOIP US number no longer works when setting up Google Voice. I also found that Vumber cannot forward calls to overseas numbers, but I can use their service as for voicemail and returning calls from their app. I’m going to look into Line 2, etc. For the moment I think Patlive and Smith.ai are more than I need (and want to pay for until I’ve got a steady stream of leads coming in). Any suggestions on US phone # that can be setup while living aboard and eventually ported over when I return to the US? I’m going to keep searching the forums here.
I’ve sent an email to the Chase Private Client Banker I interfaced with when visiting the USA in October 2018, asking about opening a business account. I guess I’m going to need my LLC OA, Articles, EIN, etc. Did you stay with Wells Fargo, despite the challenges or pick another bank (or brokerage like Luke suggested)? I have also found with Chase getting the security codes while living overseas to be a burden on my personal accounts.
Have you used cashier’s checks or tried other means for property purchases (like suggested by Milan)? How did you manage to get the cashier’s checks created and delivered to your notary while living abroad?

I found your post super helpful and followed the video very closely when creating my own website!
I noticed in some older posts that you were living aboard and from your profile it appears that is still the case. I will reply to that other forum with some questions I was hoping you can answer relating to living aboard as I’m finding some of the same struggles getting things started while living in Singapore.

I spent 3 years in Redondo Beach and worked in Torrance… we loved the climate, ocean and mountains. Best of luck, seems we are both newbies so agree on keeping goals and deadlines to progress faster.
I just shared a few of my goals under my introduction, I encourage you to put some that are SMART. To make sure your goals are clear and reachable, each one should be:
Specific (simple, sensible, significant).
Measurable (meaningful, motivating).
Achievable (agreed, attainable).
Relevant (reasonable, realistic and resourced, results-based).
Time bound (time-based, time limited, time/cost limited, timely, time-sensitive).

Thanks for the warm welcomes and best wishes. I look forward to learning and diving in during 2019. I’m happy to report the website is up and mostly done. I definitely feel is is better than necessary to get started and that was done before YE2018… so I reached that deadline!
However, I’m still working on getting a US local phone number and mailing address (I’m planning to use a virtual mailbox). Any suggestions or kicks in the bottom are welcome. Seems like letting the calls go to VM and not responding to irate callers has worked well for others reading old forum posts.
My next self imposed deadline is to have the phone and address by Jan 6, 2019 and my first mailing sent over to O2O before the end of Jan 2019. Please keep me accountable and suggestions are most welcome.

I’m in a similar situation, where I need to get a different phone #, address and LLC in place before I start my first mailer. I’m living overseas myself, so I’d love to know more about the specifics of a virtual address. Can you share what you’ve learned about setting up a webpage, drafting any LLC operating agreements, funding the LLC from your personal account, etc.
