    Has anybody had trouble purchasing land in the Midwest region? It could just be my mailer or price. However, I’ve had more success marketing and purchasing in the south west region and was wondering what the issue might be.

    Jacob – this has been my experience as well. People who own land in the SW are more likely to live out of state than owners in the midwest. SW property owners are usually more motivated because lots were split decades ago and aggressively sold as investment properties. Many families are sitting on these deeds, paying property tax and have no idea what to do with them. This is just my opinion based on my own experiences.

    I live in the midwest and have done several mailers here. Lots of people are “Lifers”. Like Kevin said, there is a drastic difference between the out of state owners in the southwest vs. the out of state owners in the midwest. I still buy property here, but my strike rate is nowhere near as high.
